2007 U.S.S Nightmare Review by R.Karshner

Haunted Cincinnati was invited down to the USS Nightmare for its 16th season. It is Located at the historic Newport landing with the Cincinnati skyline in the background. The USS Nightmare has also teamed with the Picked Brothers Sideshow again this year. If you have never seen the sideshow I strongly encourage you to visit, as it’s unique in nature and something hard to find outside of Halloween. Allen Rizzo also added Fire Eating under his list of talents performing a live demonstration for us. What can you expect from the boat this season? A new path, changed areas with lots of new surprises (no, we will not Drop any hints), and the most enthusiast actors we have seen for the season. There are only three more weeks remaining before this boat sails away again for another year, make sure you don’t pass up the opportunity to see it for yourself! Tickets are $15 dollars again this year, $20 for a combo ticket to see the Pickled brothers.Remember you only have until the 31st!!

Actors: 5/5

This year I have not seen a more motivated well trained acting staff which has been so enthusiast. Going through several times got me exactly the same results! They walk, they talk and they don’t just jump out for a quick scare.

Environment: 5/5

Take one historic boat, pepper it with the most minuet details and lighting and you have nothing short of Hollywood sets. Throw in the Cincinnati skyline in the background and you simply can’t go wrong.

Scare Rating: 5/5 (Well Done!)

Jims 2007 USS Nightmare Review

The USS Nightmare is back with more ship than you can shake a stick at. All of your favorite scenes are back as well as a couple new ones. Also returning this year is the freak show where you can see people swallow swords, drive nails into their skulls, jump on broken glass, and allow people to stand on them while they are laying on a bed of nails. They also have some items you can look at that you might see on Ripley’s believe it or not like a two headed turtle and shrunken head to name a few. You can get a combo ticket that allows you to view the freak show as well as the haunt.

Actors: 5/5 The acting was top notch this year at the boat. The captain has a fresh new look and he was really quite a character. Everyone in the house had a part to play and played it well. One scene I was particularly impressed with was a scene with the captain and a fellow with a missing eye. They had a little skit together that was very entertaining. The only negative was that the boat used a cheaper Michael Myers mask in one of their scenes. I believe if they would have used a higher quality mask the scene would have been much more believable. The one he had on appeared to be a lower quality mask. I was totally pleased with the acting in the house this year. Great Job!

Environment: 4/5 This years installment of the boat has a totally new path. It still takes you through mostly the same scenes, but they are done really well. With the house being centered around an old boat it is almost impossible to come up with different scenes that can tie into a boat. The USS does a great job of story telling. Some of the newer areas include a new clown room (goodbye balls), shockingly good walls, tight spaces (not for the claustrophobic), and a close up view of one of the boats residents over the side of a balcony.

Scare Factor: 4.5/5 Although I was not “scared” in the house I believe it is a good place for the men to take the ladies (that is if you want them clinging to you). The women I saw in the house were in near hysteria. A great score for a great house. Keep up the good work guys.

Thanks again to the cast and crew aboard the Uss Nightmare, and the Picked Brothers Sideshow for showing us a frightful time!
