2007Dent Schoolhouse Review by R.Karshner

On Saturday the 22nd the long clouded veil of secrecy around the Dent house was lifted. Before setting forth through the twisty mazes of terror we talked with owners; Joss Wells, Bud and Chuck Stross on what we should expect. In their second year in the professional haunt industry they aren’t taking the time to slow down, or losing the drive that brought them to where they are. Most of the house has been redesigned to flow better with the theme of a schoolhouse, and several new additions have been unearthed in the process such as; The Prom Room, Tool shop, and Autopsy room. After leaving us on our own we couldn’t wait to explore and visit with Charlie again. While we waited to be ushered in a horror movie filmed inside the schoolhouse kept our attention. Looks like Charlie let one of his home movies slip out again! The Dent Schoolhouse is the first official haunted house we have been to this season, and it didn’t let us down! Charlie has lots of new surprises in store for you this year, and lots of well trained help to carry that out. The actors do a convincing job adding to the entire experience. My favorite for the night was the mortician in the Autopsy room, such a ravishing beauty! Like always we don’t expect you to take our word for things, we always include a few photos to back up what we write, and encourage you to make your own opinions. As haunted house enthusiasts we are often over critical or notice things that the average guy doesn’t. General admission this year is only $12, and they are open every Friday/Saturday from 730pm until 12am. Sundays 730pm until 10pm. Further information can be obtained directly from their website at http://www.frightsite.com

We rate a haunt on three categories. (Actors, Environment = Scare Rating)

Actors: 4/5

It’s down right impossible to obtain a perfect score from me in this category. Actors are a team, so it only takes one or two to break the entire work of everyone in the house. I am not above admitting that the actors here did a phenomenal job. They brought their game faces and the outstanding makeup along with acting proves it.

Environment: 5/5

I am tough on scoring but have to admit that the Dent Schoolhouse has the creepy details in places they should be. All the obnoxious wiring is hidden from view, the sets are nice and detailed and the painting work would make Picasso roll in his grave. The new rooms this year are a perfect touch to the building. Lots of places will make you jump in the house the best part will be finding them out for yourself!

Scare Rating: 4.5 out of 5. (Leave the small children and weak at home!)

*It really doesn’t get much better than this.
